On Thursday 19th August 2010, I participated in the launch of Advocacy for Violent Free Elections (AFOVE) a non partisan not for profit organization with the major objective of advocating for violence-free environment before, during and after the elections. Organized under the theme Enhancing national stability, democracy and development through tolerance and peaceful resolutions of electoral disputes , the workshop drew participants from the academia, civil society organizations, the media fraternity, Head of missions, politicians, the police, the army, cultural leaders, religious leaders and other stake holders in as far as electoral processes are concerned. This dialogue aimed at raising awareness on causes, effects and mitigation mechanisms that can be employed to prevent and manage the electoral violence. Stake deliberated on issues that were most likely to cause violence ahead of 2011 general election. Speakers included Prof. Aaron Mukwaya, Mike Mukula, Asuman Basalilwa, Eng. Badru Kigundu .Fred Rihindi, Lt Col Felix Kulaigye among others.
